I havent written in a week or so but just wanted to update! This week my friend “Science Girl” came to visit me. We havent seen each other in a long time, years in fact, but after some catching up it was just like old times. First we went to the mall, which of course I said I wasnt going to buy anything but of course I did. (on sale!!) The second day we went on our real adventure. After navigating the train system we finally made it into Center City. We did some touristy things and then we took the bus ($2!!!) to South Philly so we could go to Pats or Gino’s. We ended up getting off the wrong bus stop but after speaking to some nice guys at the auto repair store we ended up at our destination. Yum! Determined not to spend more cash we walked back up 9th st to Walnut to Rittenhouse Square (how many blocks? we lost count but maybe about 30). The park held some of the most interesting characters we had encountered on our adventure! First, there was the guy smoking a joint openly. Then, the women who dug through the trash can and found a sub and container of cole slaw and ate them. Our favorite part though was the fairies dancing. By fairies I mean, literally, women dressed up with wings and sparkles and flowers and dancing around. It was like a train wreak and we couldn’t look away! (see pictures below)
We ended our day with some delicious frozen yogurt at Sweet Endings (18th and Chestnut)where you serve your own so you can get exactly as much or little as you want & serve your own toppings! They had a variety of flavors from plain vanilla to Green Tea to Watermelon (not as good as it sounds!) You pay by the ounce, including toppings. This is definitely a place you should visit if your ever in Philly!
