This past weekend we went to some really fun places in Philly and some had some great food and drink! First, we went to a restaurant/beer bar called Monks Cafe (16th & Spruce). Their tag line is “Belgium Beer Emporium & Restaurant” and it definitely feels that way when you walk it, you are transformed to another country! They have suggested beers at the bar as well as an extensive beer menu, so there was something for everyone. We ordered several pots of mussles to share, which were delicious! I especially recommend the Thai Curry mussles and the “Mussles from Brussles”.
Another great place to try is the APO Bar + Lounge (102 S 13th St). Indoor & outdoor, great aumbiance! This place came recommended from a coworker of my husband’s and she also recommended one of their regular drinks the “Booty Collins” (which also has a suprise of brandy soaked cherries floating in it! yum!!). Drinks at APO aren’t just drinks, they are works of art & the bartenders create new drinks with careful consideration. This is deff a place to check out if you are ever in Philly and the drink menu changes with the seasons so you will always be able to try something new! (the also have funny house etiquette rules- check out their website)
