Sorry this week’s Mommy Monday is going up
just a little way later than usual! I was really sick over the weekend (food poisoning or stomach virus?) so I didn’t have the energy to get my post ready until now!
This morning I took Carter to C.H.O.P., which is the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, to get his head looked at! Our pediatrician was worried about the flat spot he has on the back of his head and wanted him to get checked out by the specialist (neurosurgeon) to see if he might need a helmet to help round it back out! Since now-a-days we are to put our babies to sleep on the backs, a lot of babies end of with these flat spots until they start rolling over and sitting etc. But, Carter liked to sleep with his head slightly turned so his flat spot was at an angle!
This is a picture of the back of Carter’s head from when he was first learning to roll over on his own. You can see the flat spot pretty good from this shot!
Long story short, the doctor said he does NOT need the helmet! Thank goodness! He said the flat spot will correct itself slowly over time and just to make sure he gets plenty of time not on his back! I am so relieved he won’t have to wear the helmet because they told me not only is it expensive, it’s also painful for the baby to wear it because they have to wear it almost all the time and can cause sore spots on their head!
Carter is acting cool because he doesn’t need a helmet! Yay!
