Rice Krispies treats are one of my favorite desserts and this recipe only involves one extra step to make these super cute Easter treats! A delicious and adorable Easter dessert! This is a great recipe to make together with your kids!
I recently remade this recipe so I could refresh this post a little bit! I’ve added some new pictures and a few more details! I’m including the original picture so you can see how it looks with the different decorations! There are several ways to make this recipe!
How to make Rice Krispies Easter Nests
Make the Rice Krispies Treats as you normally would, following the directions on the box. But, press them into cupcake tins instead of a big pan. Then, while they are still warm, press down in the center to create a “nest”. You can use a shot glass, back of a spoon or even just your hands. Alternately, buy a box of pre-made treats, unwrap them and cut them in half. Shape the halves into the nest shapes with your hands and you’re all set.
For the candy you can use any type of Easter candy you like! In the original recipe post I used M&Ms, when I remade it I used Robins Eggs and Cadbury mini eggs. You could also use jelly beans. When I first made this I used edible Easter egg grass for the grass part of the decoration, as shown in the picture above. It comes in several colors and flavors, and this is great alternative if you don’t like coconut or are allergic!
Another method is to use shredded coconut and dye it green with food coloring. To avoid clumping, I added the drops of food coloring to my bowl first and swirled it around a little, then I added the coconut and tossed it around for an even coat.
