This is my “desk” – aka – the dining room table! The way our house is set up there isn’t really an “office” sort of area. The printer is up in the guest room so if I need to print anything I have to carry my computer up there!
So, no, I don’t spend my days working from home watching TV, doing laundry and running errands! I actually do…work! I am an online teacher so I have classes to teach, lots of meetings, lessons to plans and plenty of papers to grade. There are a lot of pros to working from home- for example, I don’t have to dress up every day for work so I can buy “fun” clothes rather than “work clothes.” There are cons too- see those dishes piling up in the sink? (I’m not going to actually show you that disaster you can just imagine it) Yeah, I can see them, too. And when you go into work you can forget about those dishes but they are just there calling to me “come clean us!”
As you other work-from-homers know, it does take some organization and discipline! You do have to set your days up with certain times to do certain things, just like if you were in a regular office. It can be easy to get sidetracked but one you find balance it all works out!
What are your thoughts about working from home? Could you do it? Do you?
