I used to shop at Whole Foods all the time, but, to save money, about a year ago I started shopping at the local grocery store (Giant) instead. Recently I have starting leaving the grocery store disappointed. This week was the last straw. So, I am breaking up my grocery store.
It’s not me, it’s you. I have decided to break up with you, grocery store, and here is why:
Every time I come in, there is something missing in the store that I need. And these are things you should have. Most recently it was bananas. then there was the two weeks in a row you didn’t have spinach. Before that it was parsley, cucumbers and mold-free tomatoes. But, you do always have a nice stock of ice-cream so kudos to you for that!
The produce is terrible. There have been several occasions where packages of moldy strawberries have been found on the shelves. And don’t get me started on the over-ripened avocados. Not to mention the wilted lettuce. Overall, it’s terrible, and I deserve better from my produce.
The overall feel of the place is just declining. The meat packages make my hands sticky. The shrimp smells weird. The rows are really small and there is displays and boxes in the way on most of them. The kids who ring you up spend as much time talking and yelling to each other as they do ringing you up.
Therefore, I have decided to start going to another grocery store that is only slightly farther away, but is that much better. I might visit you once and awhile, if I forgot something in my recipe or need a half gallon of milk, but otherwise please consider this breakup permanent.
Wegman’s, here I come!
