After relaxing by the pool and exploring Duval street for a few days we decided we were up for a bit more adventure. So, we booked two different snorkeling tours!
Our first trip was on a sailboat! And yes, they played that dumb song “Sail” as we were getting on the boat. It was a realllly windy and choppy day so my first time on a sailboat was little interesting! At several points on the trip the sailboat was so leaned over that we had to grab our bags so they didn’t tumble off the side! Not to mention a couple of people who were caught off guard and didn’t brace themselves and almost fell out as well!
Leaving from Key West on the sail boat!
This is the spot where we went snorkeling on the first trip. It’s a light house tower that was built in the 1860s! There used to be a small island here but it was washed away after some bad hurricanes over the years. The island also used to have a house on it for the light house operator but obviously that’s gone as well, and the tower is now automated.
Pretty views from the sail boat! We also had some fun feeding the fish off the side of the boat! On the way back to land the wind really picked up and the captain said “everyone hold on, I’m going to sail the sh*t out of this boat!”
Our second day of snorkeling was a little different. We did the “adventure package,” which included not only snorkeling but also parasailing, jet ski usage and other water sports (paddle board, kayaks etc). I had never been parasailing before, so that was really cool to do! I wish I had a picture of us doing it but we didn’t bring our camera or phones on the parasailing boat!
My husband tried his hand at paddle boarding!
Playing on the jet skis! Honestly, jet skis are not something I really enjoy, especially when my husband is the one driving! So after it was my turn I went ahead and cut off my wrist band and enjoyed to unlimited sangria on the boat!
Heading back from our day of “adventure”!
After our day trips we headed back to our hotel each day to relax a little by the pool and then out to dinner! We ate a lot of seafood on this trip and drank a lot of mixed drinks! (haha) The bar scene on Duval street is pretty fun! There are a ton of bars to check out which were all fun and we found something new every night!
Our last night we went to the bar at Sloppy Joe’s which was really cool! I had the BEST drink there- a Key Lime drink (that’s the official name), which was like key lime pie in a cup! They also had a live music which was a band of a family with siblings from ages 5 to adult! They were really awesome!
Next we headed up to Key Largo which was the more “relaxed” part of our trip! More on that next time!
