Today’s prompt for the Blogging Challenge is “What’s the worst advice you’ve ever received?”
Who are you to tell me not to eat paint?! |
This one is kind of hard becuase I really can’t think of anything that sticks out as the worst advice! I mean, I’ve read plenty of terrible things online that were supposed to be “advice,” especially in pregnancy and baby forums! Really, stay away from those, most of the people who respond have NO idea what they are talking about and most of them seem like real idiots. Sorry to say!
Actually, the only bad advice I can think of has come when I became pregnant or had Carter! And mostly it wasn’t bad, but just things I knew I didn’t agree with or want to do! Like some people insist that you absolutely cannot have an epidural because it’s “bad” or what not. Or people give you unsolicited advice about how to do this or that with your baby, that’s what I would consider bad!
What about you? What “bad” advice have you received in the past?

It's interesting to me that all the bad advice seems to be about parenting and kids… just goes to show you that people think they have the right to tell others how to raise their kids. Crazy!
My MIL told me once, when I was pregnant, that I needed to keep my back covered during the winter months or else my milk would spoil LOL. I was like "Ohhh-kaaaay…"
Haha! That's a new one!
Oh yes, everyone knows how to raise your child better than you do. It's all part of how being judgmental is the national pastime.
I am sure people just shovel on the advice when you become visibly pregnant. It would totally annoy me. I think the worst advice I ever got was "you need to settle, Kate. You were married before and now this time you just have to settle."
I can't think of bad bothersome advice but I'm sure it would be about pregnancy or parenting… Funny 'advice' or better called 'old wives takes' that I have gotten was right after I had my son… My mom kept pushing me to drink milk, "you got to drink milk to make milk!" And my MIL kept wanting me to give our son water instead of breast milk to fight off the jaundice. 🙂
