Well it’s happened, Carter is full on walking, and walking fast! He can walk fully across the room without falling. He can walk while holding items in his hands (his favorite? plastic knifes from our disposable utensils basket). And boy does he walk quickly when he sees an unattended cup of anything!
So this raises a question to me: when does a baby become a toddler?
Is it when they can walk?
Or pull everything out of the diaper bag and throw it on the floor?
Or when they do this?
Or learn how to torment the dog?
Or drive a car? (haha)
Whatever this milestone is, I realized the other day I wasn’t really ready for it. I was still mentally thinking of him as being a tiny baby, when really, he is entering into that “toddler” stage of life. Not in a way of “oh my little baby is growing up” but more in a way of oh wait, I DO need to change his eating habits, sleeping times, actual baby proofing etc!
It also makes me start to think more about things like talking (he only says mama still) and actives. What activities should he be doing? What should we be doing together? Should he be able to color with crayons? Should I try harder to teach him to sort things? We could go on and on here, but the point is that woah there are going to be some big changes coming up and I better get ready!!
Any advice for me about toddler-hood?
