A few weeks ago we were out to dinner with some friends. We started talking about what else we were doing that weekend and when my husband said he was going to go mountain biking our friends of course wanted to know if I go with him. I don’t, so then they asked oh what do you do while he goes then?
I don’t know what my face looked like but I kind of just said ummm…. well…. to which my friend filled in “oh you probably hang out with Carter and that kind of thing!” Yeah that’s it!
Later, on the drive home, my husband asked me if I was upset he was going mountain biking and leaving me at home. I’m not, so I wondered why he asked that. He said he asked because I responded so weird when our friends asked what I did during that time.
Why did I respond so weird?
Because what I do during that time is blog! Write my blog, read and comment on blogs, check out pinterest etc. But I felt awkward telling my friend that’s what I do! A friend who has no idea of my “secret life of blogging.” I was worried she would judge me or worse, actually read my blog!
Some of my “real life” friends do know about my blog, some of them might even read it, I’m not sure! But, certain friends I have always been nervous to tell!
What’s your blog disclosure policy? Are you weird about who you tell about your blog and don’t? Or are you on full disclosure and just tell whoever? Stand up proudly and say Yes! I am a blogger! Or awkwardly avoid polite well meaning questions about what you do with your spare time?
