So I’m standing here in the kitchen finally eating my chicken. (yes standing) Daddy is out of town on business this week and I have to say, I am pretty proud that I have been running a pretty tight ship around here. Bottles made on time, bath and bed on time, fruit and veggies cut up just so for daycare lunch. (We’ll ignore the fact that I forgot to pack him diapers and wipes today for daycare)
Everything kind of fell apart this evening though. Maybe because of this mornings diaper incident (see above) or maybe because of the fact that Carter apparently fell really bad at daycare and bit an almost hole through his tongue and bit his lip, too!
After we got back to the house from walking the dog, Carter went into a crying fit that lasted a good hour. Nothing I could do would comfort him, he didn’t even want to be held, have his snack or juice or even play with the dog. A little earlier than normal I brought him into the kitchen to try to eat dinner. I plopped him in the high chair, still screaming, and went about making his dinner. I tried to feed him many various things and he threw or pushed them all away! He wanted nothing! After awhile I realized he wasn’t going to eat dinner I just gave him a bottle of milk which made things a little better at least.
Then it hit me- he is probably miserable from biting a hole through his tongue earlier and of course no food it going to help make that better! But, I thought cold food might help so I gave him a mango sherbert popsicle and he loved it!
He insisted on holding it himself until he finally realized how cold his hands were getting!
So basically, I gave my baby a popsicle for dinner. Not sure if that makes me a bad mom or the best mom, but really, who cares? He finally was able to calm down, even played a little in the kitchen and momma was finally able to have some dinner, too!
