So I’m coming back to that age-old question for stay-at-home moms- how to take a shower?
Monday morning I had an idea! Rather than just waiting until Carter would hopefully take a morning nap (he doesn’t every day) or having to wake up extra early to shower… why don’t I just shower while Carter is awake and there? In other words, shower when I want! Sounds nice, huh?
So I gave him his bottle and blockaded him into the area near the bathroom. I set him up with some toys, although he also loves pulling magazines off the shelves in that room, and hiding in the storage cabinets, so I figured he’d have plenty to do! I left the door half open so he could see in and come in if he wanted.
I showered! After about a minute he came into the bathroom and opened the curtain to look in and make sure mommy was okay. He stood there drinking his bottle while I showered but I guess he thought I didn’t like showering because he looked really upset. Like he thought I was getting hurt or something. So I kept smiling and saying “mommy is ok!!!!”
Then… in the middle of the word “okaaaaay” I saw it. Not kidding, the largest most gigantic bug you will ever see in your life. IN the shower. WITH me. I tried not to flip out because I didn’t want to scare Carter but it was so so hard! It looked like a gigantic alien grasshopper killer bug hybrid. Thankfully, THANKFULLY it was actually between the curtain and the clear liner. But, every time it moved I couldn’t help but react. I got out of there as fast as I could, just washing the important parts. I care-ful-ly slid open the curtain and then I went and got the biggest shoe I could find & took care of it.
And that’s my adventure in trying to shower while my 15 month old was awake.
When do you shower as a stay at home mom? Do you wake up early to shower, or just wait for nap time?
