Although my house isn’t ready for the full home tour yet, I’ve really wanted to share the play area I put together for Carter!
After Christmas New Years we took down the tree and reorganized the dining room furniture where we wanted it. Then we realized there was a big open corner. It’s kind of an awkward space because the ceiling there is under the stairs so it’s slanted down. We talked about just getting a big plant to put there, but no sunlight hits that spot whatsoever so that probably wouldn’t work! Then I came up with the idea of setting up a play area for Carter! I thought it would be nice to have a special area just for him and the added bonus of keeping all his stuff in one place, rather than all over the living room/dining room!
I got the rug, table and chair, pillow and the white container at Ikea. We already had the blue container.
I also bought some shelves to hang on the wall for books, but I can’t decide which wall to put them on! I am also going to get letters to spell out the word “play” and hang those, but I figured I should decide where to hang the shelves first! He has other toys that aren’t in this picture, but they are in other spots!
I put all of this together after Carter went to bed one night so he would be surprised in the morning by his new play area!
Checking everything out in the morning!
Doing “cheese” in his new chair!
Hey mom look at my toys!
So far Carter seems to really like his play area! I also have a big pillow in there he can lay on to read, but he hasn’t figured that out yet (the pillow or how to read! haha) Once he is a little older I will add some bins on the table for crayons and things like that! Right now I keep all his art stuff in the closet so we don’t have any surprise art wall attacks!
Once I hang the shelves and other stuff on the walls I’ll do an update with those photos!
