Last month my aunt, a pre-k teacher, sent me all the materials for this bin. She sent two gallons worth of shredded paper with hidden treasures inside! Carter liked exploring the bin to find the toys, but mostly he loved playing with the paper! I mostly try to use edible items, just in case, but he only tried once to eat the paper, realized it wasn’t food, and moved on.
With this bin we worked on finding the animals and sorting them into piles. The theme was winter so there were plush animals (wolfs, seals etc) and small plastic animals (polar bear and penguins) as well as plastic snowflakes hidden in the confetti. I had Carter help me find them and put them in a cup. The paper was a great sensory material, but probably the messiest bin we’ve done to date! (including our indoor sandbox, which I’ll share soon!)
Testing the waters…
Settling in….
Scooping away..
OMG all this confetti is miiiiine!!!!
Playing nicely again.
LOL look at this mess mom!
There are no words for this one.
So, needless to say, the bin was fun but super messy. It took forever to clean up, there was confetti everywhere- under the fridge, in the dog’s water bowl, stuck in Carter’s hair, not to mention all over his clothes!
What are your favorite materials to use in a sensory bin?
Here is how long this activity took:
Confetti Sensory bin: 45+ minutes
Stay tuned, I will be testing out more sensory, art and learning
activities and posting about them! My goal is to have one post a week
with different activities! Usually I find them on Pinterest and put my
own spin to them or modify them to fit Carter’s age and personality!

Next week we will explore an indoor sandbox and talk about the color red! (this might be two separate posts, we’ll see!) I’ve also created a fun activity board that Carter LOVES and I can’t wait to share it!
