I don’t talk about religion a lot on the blog, but in our house we celebrate two religions. So, we also celebrate a lot more holidays than most people do! This week is Passover, or Pesach, which started on Monday. There aren’t a lot of craft ideas online for Jewish holidays, but I did find a few. The ideas I found were mostly just pictures with no directions! So, I have to make up my own!
1. Gather your supplies. You will need: matzo crackers, various candy, powered sugar, water and a sharp knife. I also put out large sheets of paper as work spaces.
2. Make your icing:
Measure out the powdered sugar. I used about a cup and half or so. Add a few spoonfuls of water and mix. Keep adding water, a little a time, and mixing until you get your desired consistency. The icing should be thick like a paste, not soupy. If its too runny it won’t stick as well to the matzo and you’ll just have a big mess! I like to put the finished icing into a plastic baggy and then cut off the corner for a quick icing bag.
3. Cut the matzo crackers to the size you want with your sharp knife. This step is kind of tricky because the crackers break pretty easy so you have to cut very carefully!
4. Assemble your sides! Be sure to let the icing dry a little before you put the roof on!
5. Add your roof! We did flat roofs, but you could do a pointy roof with two crackers, too!

Carter was just a bit too young to participate in this activity but I think it would be great for kids a little older than him!
