After almost two years, I am no expert, but here are 5 things I think moms of boys should know (and maybe some girls, too!)
#1. The names of the Thomas the Train trains. There are two blue ones- do you know which one is Thomas? (for the record, I do not)
#2. The location of your closest ER. Because, you know, climbing is inevitable and often! Couch climbing, stairs climbing, dining room table climbing and my personal favorite: “pushing the chair into the kitchen to climb on the counters while the stove top is on” climbing.
more climbing
#3. Trucks. The correct names of all the trucks. Yes, all the trucks.
#4. Which bugs are okay to touch and which ones probably aren’t.
and of course #5 how to give lots of cuddles and laughs!
What are some things you think boy moms should know? And, if you’re a girl mom, what things should other girl moms know?
This month’s super sponsor:
How adorable! I am in total agreement with you (especially on the dr/er thing!). I thought it was only my boys who did the chair to counter thing. I would add to this list how to make shift "toddler proof" any thing. Because as a boy mom…you know that there is nothing you can't toddler proof 😉 Just need some creativity and maybe a blind eye to how it looks!
Aww, I love these tips! I don't have children yet, but I'm sure these will come in handy. I always learn so much from blogs about raising kids. I think the most important lesson I've learned, though, is to give lots of cuddles, hugs and kisses. 🙂
I only have a girl, and a prissy one at that, so I don't have to worry about the climbing and the trucks and the bumps and bruises but I see what my sister goes through with my nephew and I feel for you.
My daughter is obsessed, OBSESSED with My Little Pony and holy crap, did I get lectures from her when I couldn't keep their names straight.
Love that selfie of you and Carter!!! This is such a great post! I have tons of friends with boys and they all DEFINITELY know the closest ER haha!
Be prepared. The climbing never stops. They just get taller and are able to climb taller things. You should see the places I find my 6'2" 15 year old! 🙂
Aww, so cute 🙂
I agree with the location of the ER. I have three boys who are very rough already. Luckily, the ER is less than 5 minutes from our house.
Edward and Thomas…and I can barely make out the difference! Later on, Transformers, Jedi characters, Beyblades, Pokemon……*sigh*
haha I think I know the name of every Thomas train these days… and actually 3 are blue (Edward, Gordon and Thomas- #iknowtoomuchaboutthisshow )Thomas is #1!
Having only girls I can say number 5 totally applies to them, too, but should totally do a list like this for girls and wonder what I could come up with 😉
Yes to this! I have a boy too, and he did like his trucks. I also have a daughter. You just need a lot of patience with a daughter.
Outlet covers! You will need outlet covers. Why? Because there are so many interesting things you can stick in an outlet (such as the stylus to your brother's LeapPad)!
