I think we can all agree- being a parent can be hard work. Whether you’re a stay at home or working mom we all have those moments… or hours… or days! You know the kind of moments I’m talking about- the stressful kind. The “I’m a horrible parent” kind. The “I definitely don’t know what I’m doing” kind. And those are the times we need to step back and take a little breath and debrief.
Every couple of days I will see a parenting article pop up in my news-feed with similar thoughts. Always from different blogs, Huffington Post or other similar sites, but always the same message. After a stressful day of taking care of kid(s), cleaning the house, cooking the meals, running errands, putting out fires (or water overflow or dog vomit- whatever) we are all just doing the best that can.
And the most important part- you are doing good! You are doing fine! You are enough!
Sometimes it’s hard to keep in mind, which is why I will continuing clicking on those affirming blog post and reading them to the end! Even after two years (which really isn’t that long, c’mon now) I still need those encouraging words. Those articles give me motivation to try to be better the next day and the next after that! To try not to get upset over the little things and to let go of my stress. They help me press the “reset” button.
So thanks to all those bloggers who share these thoughts, albeit with more eloquence than me! It’s always nice to have the encouragement and the reminder that we are all, in fact, in the same boat.
