Last weekend we headed out to take Carter on his first train ride at the Strasburg railroad and he loved it! The railroad is a 45 minute ride through the countryside and as a bonus (because we didn’t know ahead of time) we got to meet Santa on the train! They do a Christmas themed train for the holidays and had carolers and musicians walking through the train as well! The train runs on the weekends (for December) and tickets cost from $17 – $30 depending on which car you want to ride in.
Away we go! Carter loved waving to everyone out the window of the train as we pulled out of the station!
He was so excited and kept jumping up and down on the seat and looking out the window!
My mother-in-law, husband, Carter and me!
Meeting Santa on the train! Carter didn’t really know where to look because so many people were taking photos. Santa also gave all the kids on the train a little toy!
And of course what train ride would be complete without a little stop for lunch and some chocolate ice cream afterwards?!
If you live in the Philly area and have kids it’s definitely worth the short trip (just around an hour) out to the Stasburg railroad! The ride was the perfect length and the scenery was really nice, too! We also visited the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, but that’s a post for another day!

I love the Santa train ride. I wish we had something like that around here I would love to take my grandchildren to something like this!
I need to get my kids out to Strasburg for the Santa train ride! I have to check the schedule.
that's about 10 minutes down the road from me! glad you had fun!
I have been really wanting to go here ever since my friend told me she was planning on having her son's birthday party there (next year). It looks like fun and it looks like you had a great time!
So fun! What a fabulous adventure! I want to next year!
We went for the first time this summer. Our daughter was SOOOO excited!! She flipped. It was a simple train ride but that open air car is amazing!
This looks like so much fun, Rachel! Love Cater's sweater 🙂 We have a similar scenic railroad in the area; maybe something to take the kids on this holiday season!
