After covering our first three colors: red, blue and yellow, we played an easy and fun color review game! I thought it would be a good idea to go over the first three colors again before we moved on to secondary colors.
To start I printed out these color pages and cut up each card. I found this printable at the blog Life Over C’s after my aunt sent me the link to this post! I could have easily made my own, but when she shared this with me I knew it would be even easier to just print these out!
I set out three foam mats in red, blue and yellow on the coffee table, then I set out the cards, face up, and mixed them around as best as I could! With zero instruction besides “let’s do an activity,” Carter walked up to the game and just knew what to do! I was super impressed. He kept saying “dat goes dere, dat one goes dere” as he placed them on the foam mats.
He did get a little confused by the yellow apple. He said “apples red” and put it on red. I asked him if all the cards looked like they were in the right spots and he figured out to switch it to yellow! I thought this matching game was great for reviewing the colors! It’s also something that could travel easy for an activity to do in the airport or at a friend’s house!
Right about here is where he became bored of the game, but I think he got the point! Sorting and matching the color cards was a great way to review each color, continue mentioning the colors and practice with the colors he already knew!
Because we went out of town last week we are doing Orange Week at home across two weeks, last week and this week! Stayed tuned next week for a review of our Orange Week activities!
