- White paper (or whatever color you want)
- Tissue paper in your colors of choice- we did gold and silver
- contact paper
- scissors
- markers or crayons
Have your kid work on tearing up the tissue paper into small pieces! While he does that, fold each “card” in half and cut out a heart shape on the front. Cut a piece of contact paper that will fit behind the heart shape.
Tape down the contact paper, sticky side up to a clean work surface. We used our activity tray which you can see in the photo above! Have your kid stick the torn pieces of tissues paper all over the contact paper however they want.
Carefully remove the tape from the contact paper, then stick the contact paper behind the heart shape cut out so the pretty tissue is showing through!
As you can see, we tried two different methods here. In the second heart we added extra tissue paper after the fact, so it’s not exactly a perfect heart shape anymore. But, hey, that’s perfectly fine- it’s toddler art after all!
To finish the project write your Valentine’s Day message on the front and inside the card, have your kid “sign” it, and you’re ready to send!
Do your kids make homemade Valentine’s? What kind of Valentine’s have you made?
