This week for our color week we are covering the color purple. My son just loves taking baths and doing water activities, so I thought it would be fun to make some purple bath bombs! Of course since it’s so close to Easter I had to make them bunny shaped.
For the bath bombs you will need:
- 1 3/4 cup baking soda
- 1 cup citric acid I found mine here! (affiliate link)
- 2 cups of corn starch
- essential oil of choice or extract of choice
- food coloring
- water and a spray bottle
Mix together the dry ingredients in a large bowl with a whisk so they are well combined. If you want to create different color bombs divide your mixture into separate bowls at this point. Add your oil or extract to your bowls, just a few drops for scent, and mix in. (you can also skip this step for unscented bombs)
Add the food coloring to the spray bottle and fill with water to mix together. Spray the water onto the dry mixture to dye it, stirring all the time so it doesn’t fizz! Spray, spray, spray. Stir. Repeat (a lot). This part takes awhile, but you need to get the mixture to be wet enough. The mixture should feel like wet sand and stick together to be “mold-able” in you hand.
Start filling up your molds, pressing the mixture so it’s packed in tight! This way they don’t break apart when you remove them. I used these cute Easter bunny molds from Walmart. They sell them all over and there similar ones here on amazon! (affiliate link) You can also form them into balls, press them into Easter eggs or press them into different shaped bowls.
Allow them to dry a few hours before using! Turn upside down and carefully pop them out.
Toss in the bath and enjoy!
Have you made fizzy bath bombs before?
