When I was pregnant with my son I always thought I would breastfeed, but I was never opposed to using formula. My “plan” was to try breastfeed for at least 6 months. What happened was a little different! I’ve shared before that I had trouble breastfeeding from the start, and with my son being in the NICU he had to have breast milk and then be supplemented with formula at each feeding.
In the end breastfeeding was not the right choice for me and my son. It was very taxing on me, especially emotionally. I put a lot of pressure on myself to breastfeed, which was mostly from outside pressure, but in the end I chose to stop breastfeeding when Carter was around 3 months. We were both happier with our feeding schedule after that! The story has a happy outcome and I know that I made the right choice for myself and my family, as moms all over do! I am also happy that I had family and friends who are supportive of my choices.
Past what to feed my son, there are still so many choices to make as a parent, and not just about food! There are a lot of decisions to make, but thankfully there are also options available so that we have the luxury of making choices! It’s easier to find more variety of products to suit your needs and choices. Many grocery and other big stores are starting to answer the call of consumers who want more choices in their product options, and that’s great to see!
I think this new product is a great option for moms who would like to chose Non-GMO products for their babies! I also love how Similac is dedicated to supporting all moms choices, and continues to stress the importance of acceptance and support! We are all in this parenting thing together!
I’d love to hear from you! What choices are you making for your family recently? Have you heard of Similac’s new Non-GMO formula option?
