Last weekend we headed over the boarder to Mulhouse, France, to check out the Cité de l’Automobile Musée, which is the National Car Museum of France! Of course being so close to where we live we had to check it out right away!
The first thing we did was head to their outside track area for the special “In the Arena” show which ran all summer through the last Saturday in September. It was a presentation of cars from different historical time periods, which was also a bit of a comedy show.
Carter loved watching the show and even though it started raining in the middle we were able to stay until the Jeep (his favorite) came out!
The museum is just huge inside; with one giant main room and then several side rooms with even more cars! It’s very heavy on the Bugatti’s (the largest collection in the world!) but also has plenty of other cool cars to see and a nice race car area as well.
They also have a nice section of little toy cars for kids!
I asked Carter which one he liked the best and he pointed to each one and repeated ” that one!”
Start your engines!
Loved this funny little car! Doesn’t it look like a silver egg? (hence the name l’œuf!)
If you love cars or have a car lover in the family, this museum is definitely worth checking out! The signs for each car are written in French, German and English so you’ll be able to read about them. They also have a nice food area with salads, hot dishes and drinks. It’s a little off the beaten path, but if you’re in the area it’s definitely worth checking out! We also visited the nearby city (Mulhouse) for some shopping and they had a really nice pedestrian shopping area with tons of stores!
