This week for Mini Chef Mondays we whipped up some fun dinosaur fossil cookies! We had a lot of fun last week doing a whole bunch of dinosaur activities, which I will be sharing this week on the blog as well! So, welcome to Dinosaur Week, first up is our fun dino cookies!
Dinosaur Fossil Cookies
You will need:
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- dash of salt
- 3/4 cups butter, softened
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Optional: royal icing- 1 cup powdered sugar and 3 tablespoons milk
Place cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet. Use the dinosaurs to make the dino shapes by pressing them into the dough, or making footprint fossils by making the dinos “walk” across the cookies! I should note that for the best impressions you do need to press them pretty far into the dough so the shape holds as they cook.
Bake cookies for 11 -13 minutes in preheated 350 degree oven. (remove toys before baking!) Transfer cookies to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Serve and enjoy!
You can also add icing to the cookies, which I do recommend! I made royal icing (recipe above in ingredients list) with a few drops of food coloring and carefully filled each dino with some icing to make the shapes really stand out! I love how they turned out!
