From deciding where to go to booking all of the activities and accommodation, planning a trip can be almost as fun as actually going on the trip! However, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out where to start or to keep things organized as you book your trip. These few apps can help keep your travel planning easy and organized.
TripIt. TripIt is the ultimate travel-planning organizer. While it doesn’t necessarily help you plan the trip, it does help you stay organized. Forward emails from nearly any booking site to the TripIt email and it will find the dates, times, and other important information for you and load that information into your app as an itinerary. Then TripIt goes above and beyond by adding additional information, like flight check-in links, weather, and more to give a full overview of the trip. It’s a much better option than trying to keep all the information organized in your email and is so much more convenient to look at as well.
RoadTrippers. If you’re taking a road trip in the US, RoadTrippers is a must-have app. The website is the #1 roadtrip planning tool, that offers unique itineraries and route suggestions but also allows you to search for the best places to stay and coolest things to do, including quirky roadside attractions. The app now offers all of the same features to make planning the best road trip even easier.
Trip Advisor. Chances are if you’ve planned travel of any kind, TripAdvisor is already on your radar. However, they now have an app that makes trip planning from your phone even easier. With the TripAdvisor app, you can research what to do in your destination, read reviews of activities and accommodation, and even book some of your travel. While I wouldn’t rely 100% on TripAdvisor’s opinion, it’s a good place to start planning your trip or to add activities to your to-do list.
Hipmunk. Hipmunk is becoming one of the best and most popular flight and hotel booking services. The app makes searching for and booking hotels and flights easy – the best feature may be the “Agony” filter that shows the flights with fewer hassles (layovers, etc) first, before the ones that may be a bit cheaper but take exponentially longer. You can also set alerts on searches so that you book at the lowest price possible.
PackPoint. Take the stress out of packing with PackPoint. This unique app creates a packing list based on destination, length of trip, type of trip (business or pleasure) and even specific activities on the trip. What makes PackPoint better than all other packing list apps is that it checks the weather in your destination to make sure you’re packing appropriately and it connects with TripIt.
With these five apps, trip planning can stay fun and stress free!
