I love apple crumble and apple pie desserts! So, this week for mini chef Mondays we made some delicious mini apple pie ravioli! These small apple pies are a great dessert for kids because they are small and easy to eat with your hands. You could also serve them hot from the oven with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
All you need is puff pastry and apple pie filling. We made homemade pie filling (I’ll share the recipe soon!) but you can also used store bought, which is just as good, not to mention faster! If you use store bought pie filling make sure to chop the apples up into smaller pieces from the can.
Roll the puff pastry out so that it’s as thin as you can get! Since it puffs up (hence the name) you want it really thin so your ravioli doesn’t just turn into apple pie stacks. Although come to think of it, that would be delicious, too! Use a ravioli cutter or square cookie cutter to cut out the puff pastry into raviolis.
Alternately, you could use a ravioli press for this, if you have one!
Place half the ravioli squares onto a baking sheet. Fill each ravioli with a small scoop of apple pie filling. Brush the edges with water and top each one with a remaining square. Press the edges down so they stick firmly together. Cut a slit or small “X” into each ravioli to help keep them from leaking. Last, sprinkle a little sugar on top!
Bake according to package directions, but keep an eye on them so they don’t burn. Our package called for 25-30 minutes and it really only took 12.
Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!

Looking forward to your apple pie filling recipe – I could easily make these with GF puff pastry too 🙂
Cannot wait for your apple pie filling recipe! I often bake from the puff pastry, so this is another great recipe to add to my collection 😉
I’ll be sharing it soon!!
Brilliant idea. My kids will love these, but also perfect for an apero. I never heard of buying apple pie filling. Presume that’s available in Swiss supermarkets. I’ll have a look.
Not sure if it’s available here or not because we made it this time. In the US you can buy premade pie filling for various fruits!
Such a cute sweet idea. Perfect for an party appetizer. I love all the apple desserts this time of year. Delicious.
What a fun idea! We’ve been talking about making apple pie for weeks, I’ll have to try this.
Thanks Kate! I hope you like it, just be sure to roll the dough out super thin!!
Sounds like a great one to try with my girls, thanks!
Aaaahhh! I want that ravioli press, so cool! I am definitely making these soon. I love anything in bite sized pieces. Great idea.
