The first week of fall we headed to the KinderHotel Post in Austria for a week vacation! The whole kinder hotel concept is just fabulous- a hotel catering just to families with plenty for kids to do, not to mention all day child care for kids of all ages, kid friendly food offerings and tons of provided extras. I think this concept could really catch on in the United States!
The hotel room came equipped with a kids bedroom with bunk beds, special kids soap (alligator shaped!) and robes for everyone, including a kid sized robe and slippers for Carter! They also set up a dog bed and bowls for our dog before we arrived. You can also borrow a baby monitor from them, which is set up to call a special cell phone. Other things were provided that hotels don’t usually think of, such as an umbrella, a basket to carry all your stuff down to the pool and a big drying rack on the porch!
They had three pools including a kiddie pool, indoor pool and outdoor pool. All the pools were heated and really warm which was nice because it was just starting to turn to fall temperatures outside. The kiddie pool had a slide and water works and plenty of toys for the kids to share.
The outdoor pool was awesome! It had some spa features and the view was amazing. One day it was warm enough to sit outside so we took advantage of the “warm weather” and sat out by the pool while Carter played in the kids camp (that’s what we called the child care).
The playground was really big and they also had bobby cars, a zip line and a mini sized digger you could turn on and scoop up dirt. On the days it wasn’t raining they also blew up a bouncy house shaped like an alligator.
There were other amenities outside like the trampolines, tennis court and archery field. They also have a small lake to swim in with a huge water slide. It wasn’t really warm enough for that, but we did spend a little time playing in the sand on the shore and putting our feet in the water.
We also did a couple of visits over to their petting farm! They have goats, bunnies, guinea pigs and horses. They also have a pony you can ride and offer lessons for older kids.
The food was pretty good as well, especially at dinner. The whole thing kind of reminded us of being on a cruise because you have an assigned table and for the dinner you chose what you want each night from three dishes. The dinner food was always something really interesting from venison to different kinds of fish to really tender steak. For the kids they had a kids buffet so they had plenty to chose from! For breakfast and lunch they have a buffet, salad bar and dessert bar. All the food and activities were included in the cost except for alcohol and the spa. At dinner time the kids club team came through the dining area to pick up all the kids for a kinder disco, magician or movie night.
Overall we had a great time at the kinder hotel. The little extras made Carter really excited and he knew the hotel was just for him! They even gave him a stuffed toy when we checked in! I think this kind of hotel would be fun to go with another family so the kids could play and do all the activities together while the parents could go hiking or have a spa day. These hotels are very popular in the winter during ski season and I can see why! This would definitely be the perfect place to go for a ski trip with young kids who aren’t able to ski yet.
Have you been to a kinder hotel? What did you think of it?
