I first heard about fairy bread earlier this year from my Australian friend and fellow expat, Claire. I was pretty skeptical about the treat but I decided to let Carter give it a try and, of course, he loved it! I mean, really, what’s not to love? Fairy bread is super simple to make and although it’s not the healthiest of foods it is a yummy treat for kids! We decided to do a festive take on this Aussie treat by cutting the bread into Christmas tree shapes.
Fairy bread is just three ingredients: bread, butter and sprinkles. First cut your bread into Christmas tree shapes using a cookie cutter. Then, spread butter all over. “Real” fairy bread is cut into triangles, FYI.
Then, sprinkle those sprinkles all over! Really pile them on there. We used Christmas colors for our festive fairy bread, but of course you can use whatever colors you like.
Serve and enjoy!
