This week for Mini Chef Mondays we made some homemade crackers! Instead of just cutting them into squares we mixed it up a little and cut them into heart shapes to go with our Valentine’s Day theme we’ve been doing for Mini Chef’s the past few weeks! Baking your own crackers is basically like making cookies, except savory, so it’s very easy to make with your mini chef!
Just mix together the ingredients.
Roll the dough out on a floured surface. The thinner you roll it, the crisper your crackers will be. We made some thin and some thick and the thicker ones come out more like a bread texture than a cracker texture. It’s up to you which one you prefer!
Use heart shaped cookie cutters to cut the crackers out. After the initial batch, I showed Carter how to make them closer together to better utilize the dough so we didn’t have to keep rolling it out again. Like most dough’s, the more you work it, the tougher it gets! Bake the crackers for 15-20 min, allow to cool and then serve with cheese! We used the heart cutters to cut the cheese into shapes as well for a Valentine’s treat!
