I haven’t done Stitch Fix in awhile so I thought I’d give it another try and see what they would send in a maternity clothes box! Maternity clothes can be hard to shop for, so it’s nice to have a “stylist” send you some things you may not have found otherwise. Although I didn’t like all the clothes, I will say they were all of really good quality.
If you’re not familiar with Stitch Fix, I’ll explain (and if you are, skip ahead!). Stitch Fix is a service where you fill out a style profile and they send you a box of around five items to try on that are, hopefully, your style or a style you’d like to try out. You can keep what you want and send back what you don’t. If you keep all the items you get a discount off the whole box. When you send items back you fill out a survey and give comments about what you liked and didn’t like so the stylist can send you better things next time. You do pay a styling fee for each box, but it is knocked off the purchase price of whatever you end up buying.
Here’s what I got in my maternity stitch fix box! For reference I am one day shy of 28 weeks pregnant when these pictures were taken.
1. Liverpool Taylor Maternity Denim Shorts in white- $54
These shorts were really high quality, which is good because $54 seems like a lot for shorts to me. I liked that the denim was thick and not see through, and the bump panel was light weight and didn’t go all the way up, which can be hot. However, I felt they were a little too tight to be comfortable all day so I sent them back.
2. Mix by 41 Hawthorn Sollas Maternity Knit Top- $38
This top just looks really bad on me. There’s no other way to say it! It’s too long, the material pulls weird and it looks like it’s supposed to be a dress but isn’t. Needless to say, I sent this one back!
3. Lux & Co Abel Maternity Short Sleeve Back Detail Top- $44
I love stripes and I love this top! It’s just the right length, lightweight for summer and the back details are so cute! I kept this one!
4. Just Black Adorra Maternity Skinny Jeans- $88
To be honest, these jeans were pretty hard to pull on! Once I got them on they seemed to fit okay, although I am not a big fan of the dark green. If they had been regular jeans or maybe black I would have maybe considered them. However, $88 is a lot to pay for pants when I know I can get some at loft or Old Navy for much cheaper! I also didn’t care for how dark the bump panel is, you could see it through my shirt so you wouldn’t be able to wear white or other light colors with it. I sent this back.
5. Loveappella Garnet knit maternity maxi dress- $78
As I said in my unboxing video on facebook live, I am a fan of maxi dresses for maternity wear! But, I am not a fan of this pattern whatsoever. This dress fit really well and the material was super comfortable. It was nicely made and not at all cheap feeling, however I just couldn’t get past the pattern so I had to send it back. I knew I would never wear it enough to justify the cost!
Final Thoughts
Overall, I was slightly disappointed with this fix because of the lack of things that I truly liked. I only ended up keeping one thing. I would have considered keeping the shorts if they were a little cheaper. However, I am an optimist so I am open to trying Stitch Fix again and hopefully the notes to my stylist will help me get more items I like in my next box! They also just started doing kids boxes! I ordered one for my son and it will arrive in August so stay tuned for that!
