All the info about my third trimester so far! This post contains some affiliate links as well, thank you for supporting my blog!
This week I am at 33 weeks and this pregnancy is moving right along! (The pic above is from 29 weeks) Since my last update was from the second trimester, I thought it would be good to do a third trimester update as well! We’re coming up to the end of the summer and school is about to start back up in one week. Then it will be time to start kicking the baby prep into high gear as my due date is quickly approaching. Every week that I get closer to full term I start to feel a little bit more nervous, even though I mostly know what to expect!
Worries!
One of the things I am concerned about (besides labor!) is how my 6 year old will react and act once the baby is here! He has a general idea of what’s going on, that baby sister is coming soon and that sort of thing. But of course he won’t fully understand until she is here with us. I am worried about going from one kid to two, especially since he’s been an only child for so long now! And of course I am worried about splitting my time and attention between the two kids! Of course it’s been so long since I’ve done it, so I’m also getting worried about the labor and delivery aspect! There is also a chance I will need to have a c section, so that’s something else to think about as well.
Second Pregnancy Differences
This pregnancy I’ve had a lot of extra monitoring for a couple of reasons. Because of my “advanced age” and kidney disease I’ve had extra monitoring of my blood pressure and such, and I am now in a stage of non-stress tests twice a week until delivery! My blood pressure and labs have all been fine, so the non stress tests are just precautionary at this point. But, it is a lot of doctor appointments every week!
I have also had a lot of extra ultra sounds due to having a low lying placenta. The placenta is almost covering my cervix, and needs to move at least 1 centimeter before my next appointment. Otherwise, it is too close to the cervix, which could lead to a dangerous delivery, thus the possible need for a scheduled c-section. I’ll find out at my 36 weeks ultra sound if has moved or not and what the next steps are!
This pregnancy has been a lot rougher than how I remember my first one! I have had really bad back pain, rib pain and basically every generic pregnancy symptom there is. I have some rib pain so bad I can barely switch positions when I’m sleeping and getting in and out of the car is just super painful. Hopefully this goes away soon after delivery!
In July/August we went down to Florida to visit family and friends! This picture is from my friend Kim’s baby shower. She is about 3 weeks ahead of me, which is awesome because we honestly did not plan to have babies at the same time!
We also had to hit up Disney (and Epcot!) while we were in Florida! It was hot as anything but worth it! Although my feet were basically killing me by the end of walking around Epcot, I had to sit down a ton! I haven’t had much foot swelling though, despite the heat and humidity this summer! On the other hand, my hands have puffed up a little! Just enough that my wedding ring isn’t coming off. It’s not painful, but I’m not sure if I will keep swelling up or not over the next 5-6 weeks. Thankfully next week it’s going to start cooling off a little so I’m hoping that will help!
Just a small note about these shorts because they are so so comfy! They are Jessica Simpson maternity brand pull on shorts and so soft. I have worn them all summer and I love them! I also love my cute tank top I ordered on Etsy specifically for this trip! I wore it both days we were there so I could get maximum use out of it! (don’t worry, I washed it between!!) Unfortunately, I didn’t get to have all the snacks on the shirt, but I did get a mickey shaped ice cream bar!
Kim and me comparing bumps at Disney! Her’s is like a perfect ball and mine is kind of lumpy and low!
Third Trimester Recommendations?
Even though this is my second pregnancy I don’t really feel like I have any special recommendations of products I needed for pregnancy. Luckily, I haven’t had a stretch marks so I didn’t have to buy any special lotions for that. I use a throw blanket all squished up to help prop me up on my side when I sleep. I buy the food that I crave, although it’s not anything too crazy or especially healthy! (oreos, pop tarts, yogurt, Cheetos) I will admit I have been craving sushi a lot during this pregnancy, even in the first trimester! But I’ve been good and abstained! I cannot wait to have some sushi and wine this fall! The only special things I’ve bought have been clothes! Although I am starting to wish I had some sort of belly support band to help take the weight pressure off my back, I can’t imagine wearing another layer of anything in the summer heat!
It’s coming down to the wire now with about 6 weeks left! Soon I’ll have her room all set up and I’ll share that with you guys here, too! This summer has felt very very long, but cooler temps and my due date are just around the corner!
