I’m now 37 weeks along, only three weeks left until my due date! On Friday we finally got our answer about my low lying placenta issues and it was determined that the placenta is still an issue. So, I have a c-section scheduled for October 5th and I guess this is my new “due date!” Even though (obviously) this doesn’t change how far along I am, it’s kind of nice to know exactly when things are going to happen. We have a few more things to do to prepare, and exactly two weeks to do them!
Symptoms
I’ve been starting to feel that “nesting” urge, which is weird because I didn’t really get that with my first. I mean, sure I wanted the house to be clean and organized, but I never went into any kind of cleaning frenzy or had over zealous thoughts about organizing. Now I want to sweep everything out of every cabinet and go through it all. I already dumped all my son’s books out onto the floor to sort through them and started reorganizing the play area in the sun room. On the other hand, I’m a little lazy, so all the projects in my mind probably won’t done in the end! I’ve made a to do list of the most important things so I hope to at least check those off!
I am starting to have some “practice contractions,” which are slightly painful (compared to braxton hicks!) and give me the feeling of more pressure. But, they are still random and not increasing each time. Usually they happen in the evening/at night and also include some pretty bad back pain. I’ve been keeping track of them just in case! In general I have back pain, and my rib pain was extra bad for awhile but is slowly starting to get better, thank goodness!
More Appointments and Testing!
I have to continue with my non-stress tests up until my c-section so I have a few more of those to do! I basically feel like I’ve been at the hospital or the doctors office for various appointments every single day. This Friday I have my 38 week appointment as well as another ultra sound to check her growth! They have been monitoring her growth closely and she is still a little on the small side. The doctor mentioned the possibility that if she hasn’t show much growth since the last check they might even do the c-section early. But, she didn’t think that was likely, so fingers crossed!
At this point most people are just continuously asking me “how are you doing?” I am feeling nervous, of course, and ready to be done being pregnant as well! Ready to meet her and scared at the same time! I am ready for surgery (mentally) but not so much for the recovery period. So, basic up and down emotions towards the end here! Growing a person is probably one of the most weird and most wonderful things in the world. It can be a lot to wrap your head around at times. There was nothing and very soon there’s a little new person. But, now that it’s less than two weeks away, it’s becoming very very real!
