Well time is flying by and Riley is already two months old! Like last month I’m writing this over a week after the fact. One of these months I get it done on time! So far so has been a really good baby and oh so cute! She loves to snuggle but also doesn’t mind chilling in her swing. She has just started showing us her smile and making little noises for us. She also likes to stick her tongue out to us when we do it to her, which is super cute.
Having two kids is definitely challenging, especially with my husband traveling for work a lot. But, I do find myself relaxing a little more as time goes on. I’m definitely more relaxed overall as far as “mom worries” go. Not that I remember exactly everything from when Carter was a baby, but there is a sense of “been there done that” that helps me know I can keep calm in most baby related situations. Having experience has helped make it a little easier. On the other hand, when they both need something at the same time, all bets are off!
Baby Stats
Riley had her two month check up and weighed in at a whopping 11 pounds 6 ounces! She jumped into the 50% for weight! She is 22 inches tall. I forgot how weird baby clothes sizing is. In Carter’s brand size 3 months is 9 -12 pounds, which means she’s technically almost too big for them, but we just started using this size! It really doesn’t match up. In baby Gap and Gymboree she’s in the 0-3 month size. And of course, shes in size 1 diapers, although I’m thinking they’re starting to get a bit snug around the waist!
As she’s getting bigger she’s slowly started to sleep longer at night! This week in particular she has been only waking up once in the night, and never takes a full bottle. She’s been wanting to go to bed earlier, too, so I’ve been putting her down between 7:30- 8:30 and she’s out for the night until usually 4:00! Fingers crossed this trend continues and 4:00 will turn into 5:00 and then 6:00 and eventually 7:00! That would be awesome.
Baby’s First
This month Riley had her first Thanksgiving! We didn’t go anywhere and celebrated at home with a small dinner as well as heading over to our neighbors house for their Thanksgiving morning brunch. We decided to do a “stay cation” and not cook dinner all weekend, so we went out to dinner every night and it was great! She also experienced her first black Friday, which was madness of course. Normally we wouldn’t brave the stores but my husband wanted to see the deals on this tablet he’d been eyeing.
Riley also had her first smiles this month! She smiles and opens her mouth like she wants to talk, mimicking our faces. It’s so cute! She makes a lot of different noises, she really has a lot to say. I don’t remember Carter making noises so much, so I’m thinking she’s going to start talking way before he did. Only time will tell!
Now we’re just hanging out, waiting for Christmas! We’re looking forward to seeing family and friends at Christmas time and several more first for Riley later this month, including her first trip to Disney!
