Last week Riley turned six months old! Time really does fly by! I can’t believe it’s been half a year already. It was just around this time last year that we told Carter he was going to be a big brother and posted it on Facebook. We were going to do it on Easter, but it was also April Fools Day last year, so we waited until the 2nd to share the news so people wouldn’t think it was a weird joke!
Carter saw me taking her six month photos and wanted to join in. He said since he is six years old it only made sense for him to be in the “six” photos! Who can argue with that? He is turning out to be such a good big bother! I can see them already starting to have a special bond and he has such a way to make her laugh and smile all the time. She loves watching him and seeing what he’s up to and always turns her head towards his silly voices! He loves to put on little shows for her with his toys and is always giving her words of affirmation, which is just so sweet!
6 Month Baby Stats
Last month I weighed her at home and estimated her to be about 16 pounds. I was a little off as you can see from the graphic above! She weighed in at 15 pounds, 15 ounces at her six month check up! She is 25 3/4 inches tall and around 40% for height and head size, 45% for weight. The doctor said she’s growing perfectly along her curve, so that’s great! We’ve now moved her up to size 6 months clothes (or 6-9 month, depending on the brand!). We are trying to finish off the huge box of size 2 diapers I bought and then I’ll move her into size 3! The size 2’s are just getting a little too small at this point.
Riley is starting to play with her toys more, especially the ones that make music! She also, of course, loves anything she can put in her mouth and is teething like crazy. No teeth have popped through yet, but I think it’s only a matter of time! She is rolling over and pushing up like a champ. She tries to move but can’t quite get there yet! I’m not super fussed with all these milestones, because I know she’ll do it when she’s good and ready!
Riley has been eating baby purees and really loves her teething crackers, too!
Baby Adventures
This month we had a visit from Nana so Riley (and Carter) got a lot of play time with her! We’ve been very busy with all of Carter’s sports and activities so she’s just been tagging along on all of those. Thankfully, she doesn’t seem to mind much and is usually pretty good! I also started going to the gym, so she’s been getting to know the daycare ladies there as well! It’s been a great step for her to meet other “caregiver” types and she is always really happy in there!
This month we are going on a spring break trip, so she’ll have a lot of other adventures and first for her 7th month update! I’m also going to start getting her into some activities of her own soon, like swim lessons, library time and such! She loves going places and seeing new things it seems like so it’ll be fun to try some new things with her!
