If you’re having a scheduled c-section you’re probably doing as much research as possible to feel prepared! It’s one thing to prepare for the actual surgery and hospital stay, but it’s also important to be prepared for the recovery period. It’s been almost a year (!) since my c-section. Having gone through both a vaginal delivery and c-section, I can say that the recovery time for the c-section was definitely longer! I didn’t bounce back as quickly and the recovery necessities were a little different.
After some trial and error I finally found some products that worked for me! I might have wasted a little money trying too many products, but now I have a good list to recommend to you guys! Some might seem obvious and some might be something you never though of! Of course don’t forget to pick up some items at the drug store as well such as pads (yes you’ll bleed after a c-section as your body heals), laxatives (no explanation needed) and over the counter painkillers, too!
Here’s my tried and true items for c-section recovery. I’ve linked them to amazon so you can easily get them, but I’m sure there’s plenty of places to pick up these, or similar, items! I actually bought the pants at Target, but they don’t sell them anymore. Trust me, you’ll definitely be thankful to have these pants and underwear!
C-Section Recovery Must Haves from Amazon
Everything post c-section is about being comfortable and these pants (or similar) fit the bill! Order a size up so you can pull them up high over your c-section scar. There's nothing more uncomfortable to wear after a c-section than a waistband that sits right over your healing scar. I wore these for weeks after my c-section! Bonus: they have pockets! These no-skid socks are great for the hospital! But not jut that, I loved wearing them around the house after because it helped me feel more steady walking on our hardwood floors! These nursing bras were awesome! They're soft and comfy, which made them perfect for wearing overnight. Just like the pants above, I chose these underwear in a size up. I wanted high waist underwear so I could make sure the band didn't irritate my scar. Honestly, I wore the mesh hospital panties for about a week afterwards, but when I ran out of those I was all about these Hanes! This bra attachment was perfect when I started pumping! It has clips to attach it to any regular nursing bra, so you don't have to switch bras to pump! Just clip it on and pump away. So much easier than having to take off your shirt, put on a pumping bra and then switch back when you're done. Of course keeping hydrated is always important, but even more so if you're breastfeeding! This isn't c-section specific but having a reusable water bottle was so helpful during my recovery time!C-Section Recovery Must Haves
