These semi homemade monster cookies are so cute and easy to make! I love semi homemade recipes, especially for desserts. They help me save so much time and in a lot of cases, money, too! These cookies are so fun to make with your kids and my son called them the “best cookies” he’s ever had!
After baking the cookies up, spread your icing. There’s two methods you can try here. Method one is to dip the cookies into a bowl of icing for full coverage. Method two is to spread the icing on with an icing spreader or butter knife. I found method two to be a little better for me because I had more control over how much icing went on the cookies so it wasn’t just a huge layer! Be sure to pop the incing into the microwave for 5-10 seconds so it’s easier to spread.
Next, dip the icing covered cookies into your sugar sprinkles. I had three different colors and then I mixed some of them together as well for a different effect. Last, you’ll add the monster eyeballs! If you want to make these extra spooky for Halloween you could use black sprinkles and chocolate icing instead of vanilla!
Monster cookies can be made a many ways, but I love my semi homemade version! It’s quick and easy to make and the decorating part is extra fun for the kids! As you can see, we made some of them with a lot of eyes and some of them are cyclops monsters!
Some people microwave the icing directly in the container it comes in. This is fine, just make sure to completely remove all of the foil seal on the cover! I used a bowl for this recipe because I didn't plan to use all the icing in the jar.
