Several years ago my sister tried Whole 30 as a pescatarian and wrote a nice intro about it for my blog! (You can see that post here if you’re interested) Although her Whole 30 journey is over, we wanted to give some additional information and ideas for those wanting to try Whole 30 while keeping to a pescatarian diet.
Trying to eat healthy, do Whole 30, and eat a Pescatarian lifestyle can prove to be an interesting challenge. Snacks are a big thing when you’re trying to eat healthy. Of course, the basics are protein, veggies, and healthy fats. You want to make sure you’re getting in the important stuff. However, when you want to reach for a snack on the Whole 30 diet as a Pescatarian, here are some easy snack ideas!
#1. Raspberries & Other Berry Options
Who says that snack time on Whole 30 has to be a nightmare? Why not wash a container of raspberries and snack on that all day? Sometimes I’ll do a mixture with all types of berries and it’s just as equally delicious. On your quest to find Whole 30 snack approved Pescatarian food, keep it simple in the berry department with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries.
Don’t forget there are a lot of other types of fruit you enjoy on Whole 30! Perfect for when you need a sweet treat!
- Grapes
- Dates
- Mango
- Melon
- Plums
If you’d like to see the whole selection of fruits you can eat on Whole 30, here is the list directly from the Whole 30 website.
#2. Cook up some eggs
A delicious and easy snack is two eggs! Fry them or make a whole bunch of hard boiled eggs to keep in the fridge for easy snaking. Boiled eggs are a favorite in our house! I know that eggs can get old really fast whenever you’re trying to eat healthy, but it’s always a good go to option when you’re trying to keep things simple as a Pescatarian on Whole 30.
#3. Don’t Forget the Avocado
Don’t ever forget that the avocado exists. You can eat it so many ways! I love to cut it up and just eat it plain. Of course, it works wonders as a dip and as a topping on almost anything. Eat it as a topping on your favorite fish or salad and you’ll be good to go.
#4. Let’s Mix Up Some Ingredients – Avocado Egg Salad
Whip us this Avocado Egg Salad it’s amazing and something any Whole 30 Pescatarian can indulge in as a snack. And yes you can even make it without mayo!
#5. Add Cinnamon to Your Fruit
If you’re tired of boring fruit and don’t know how to switch it up, here’s a new idea! Sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon on your apples. Try it on other fruits, too, and see what you like. This is so good that it will most likely become one of your favorite Whole 30 snacks!
#6. Bananas, Blueberries, & Your Choice of Nuts
This mixture is delicious and also something I like to eat often. You can also add almond butter to it to mix it up. It’s kind of like eating trail mix, but a little healthier! Adding the almond butter makes it just a little tastier and adds more flavor. Give it a try. The whole nut rule on Whole 30 is that they need to be eaten in moderation. If you can handle that rule, then this snack is for you.
#7. How About Some Kale Chips?
Kale chips are great and if you haven’t tried them, you should! On the Whole 30 diet, you may feel like your options are limited as a pescatarian, but they’re not. In reality, you just need to be more focused on the fruit and vegetable side. You can do this and delicious snacks like Kale Chips are worth making and having on hand.
