Rainbow Jello Shots

Rainbow Jello shots are here! This has been on my mind for awhile and I thought what better time than June for these shots to make their debut! Rainbow jello shots are perfect for Pride month! They’re also great for any sort of party with lots of color, unicorn theme or rainbow theme. Or just for fun, really, because they’re so pretty! To be honest, these shots were very hard to photograph and the pictures do not do them justice. They look better in person, trust me!

These are great without a topping or topped with whipped cream and sprinkles to make them more festive. If you decide to top them, be sure to do it right before serving so the whipped cream doesn’t fall and get all sticky.

These are also really fun to make without alcohol with your kids, they love it! We actually did this, too, and my son really enjoyed it. We ate through the layers comparing each one and picking our favorites.

About layered rainbow jello shots

Layered shots can be tricky because, of course, you don’t want to layers to blend together. This recipe takes a little patience because you have to wait for each layer to set before moving on to the next. The good news is, because the layers are so thin, they don’t take very long to set! You should give about an hour per layer for it to set, just to be sure. I actually wait longer than that to make sure they are good and set.

Be sure to plan ahead if you’re making these for a party so you have enough time! You can store them in the fridge, covered for a few days ahead of time. Grab your favorite jello flavors in ROYGBP colors and get to it!

Rainbow Jello Shots

Yield: 20-24 shots

Cook Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Additional Time: 6 hours

Total Time: 7 hours 30 minutes

Ingredients

• One 3 ounce box of each color jello: red, orange, yellow, green, blue & purple (we used strawberry, orange, pineapple, lime, blue raspberry and grape)
• 3 cups of water, divided
• 3 cups of vodka, divided
• whipped cream & sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

(start with purple and work backwards)

For each layer:

1. Mix 1/2 cup boiling water with jello powder. Mix well, stirring until powder is dissolved.
2. Stir in 1/2 cup vodka.
3. Carefully pour into shot glasses, just a little bit for each one, dividing equally between the shots (approx. 1/3 oz per color, per shot).
4. Transfer to fridge to set fully, at least and hour for each new color. Make sure the layers are set before starting the next one so the colors don't run together.
5. Repeat with all colors until you reach red at the top!

Notes

1. This is a different ratio than my normal jello shot recipe. I used half the amount of vodka and water because I wanted the colors to be very vibrant.
2. You can use the regular ratio of 1 cup water + 1 cup vodka to make a bigger batch!
3. The measurements are approximate. I always leave room for a little spill or measuring cup error. You might accidentally put to much of one color in one vs the other etc. I lined all the cups up when I poured so I could try to get the layers the same in each one.
