These butterbeer jello shots will make you feel like you’re heading off to your favorite wizarding school!

What are your favorite fall flavors? A lot of people love pumpkin spice, I’m a fan of apple cinnamon personally. Fall also reminds me of all things Harry Potter! Maybe it’s the crisp autumn air and the whole back-to-school thing which reminds me of Hogwarts. Butterbeer is, of course, an iconic treat from the Harry Potter universe! So I thought, why not create a delicious butterbeer jello shot?!

Any other Harry Potter fans out there? If so, you’ll love this interpretation of butterbeer! It taste just like you’d imagine a creamy butterbeer to taste, but in jello shot form. But, you don’t need to be a Harry Potter fan to enjoy this shot! It’s sweet and delicious all on it’s own.

How to make Butterbeer Jello Shots
These shots are very easy to make!
- For the alcohol: A mix of caramel vodka and whipped cream vodka gives a great flavor to the shots. Both of these vodkas are easy to find in your local liquor store. If you want it extra sweet and buttery you could substitute butterscotch schnapps for the whipped cream vodka.
- For the soda: I used creme soda as the base for this shot. The cream soda, combined with the flavors of the vodka, makes it taste just like butterbeer! Any brand will do, I used store brand. When you cook the soda it will get very bubbly, so be sure to stir and don’t let it get too hot because it will quickly bubble up and boil over.
- For the gelatin: Use one packet of knox gelatin for this shot. Be sure to let the gelatin bloom before you mix it, otherwise it will get clumpy and your shots might not turn into jelly properly. There is some debate whether you should let the gelatin bloom over the alcohol or the other liquid. I have found that it works fine in both, but it does mix in better when you let it bloom over the liquid that you will be heating up.
Tips for adding decoration to your shots:
Garnish is not strictly necessary, but it does make it look pretty! Plus, the whipped cream adds an extra creamy sweetness to the shots. If you do use it, be sure to add the whipped cream right before serving, otherwise it will flatten out and get watery on top of the shots. You can top with theme colored sprinkles or even drizzle with caramel sauce.
