What to Wear to Disney World

Are you planning a Disney vacation and not sure what to wear? Don’t stress about what to wear to Walt Disney World anymore. Here’s some simple tips so you know what to pack to wear to Disney year round!

If I could offer one piece of advice to someone going to Walt Disney World for the first time, it would be to dress comfortably! Disney magic is powerful, but it’s powerless against sore feet. If you’re after the optimum Walt Disney World experience, you’re going to want to be comfortable so you can have fun and not worry about what you’re wearing! Take it from someone who’s been to all of the Disney theme parks more times than she can count.

What to wear to Disney is a question that’s prettily easily answered, but you have to be open to letting go of pieces you might regularly wear and expect to be able to at Disney World.

Tips for What to Wear to Disney World

1. Supportive shoes:

My go-tos are Sperrys or sneakers. My friend swears by her comfy Toms. If neither of those strike your fancy, just make sure whatever footwear you select offers some support. Flip flops and flat sandals do not. Believe me, after wearing my “cute” Tori Burch sandals all day at Epcot I truly regretted that shoe decision! Your feet are not going to be happy with you if you walk around all day in those. Ditch those “cute” shoes for your most comfortable walking shoes.

2. Breathable fabric:

Just say yes to cotton! The last thing you want is a fabric that will trap in the  heat the warm weather months throw at you. It’s Florida. There are a LOT of those months. You can go wrong with breathable fabrics like cotton. You could even go for a comfy cotton dress if you want to dress it up a bit! If it’s extra hot you could even consider wearing a (cute) moisture wicking workout top!

3. Flowy tops:

The name of the game is comfort when we’re talking about what to wear to Disney World. That doesn’t mean you have to go oversize with it, though. A flattering, yet not body hugging v-neck tee or tank are typically what I turn to. I love buying flowy tank tops on Etsy with funny Disney designs to wear to the parks!

4. For the bottom:

Lightweight shorts (no denim) in the summer and leggings or jeans when it’s cooler. Again, this is all about comfort! Denim shorts do not like the summer heat but for winter I always wear jeans! Leggings are great too, if that’s your preference. I prefer jeans because I need pockets!

Guess who forgot to bring their rain jackets?

5. Bring an extra layer:

In summer, brings a light weight rain coat, you won’t regret it! In winter, throw a hoodie in your backpack or tie it around your waist to help you ward off the chill night time brings. Central Florida has four seasons: warm, hot, hotter and winter. Winter last about a week, so you definitely won’t need that extra hoodie most times of the year (but you will need a raincoat or a rain poncho if you want to go full tourist)!

Bonus:

Don’t forget the sun protection! Sunscreen and sunglasses are a must! And if you really want to protect your face bring a hat, too! There is some shade at Disney, but there aren’t a ton of shady areas to hang out in so be prepared to be in the sun a lot.

Don’t forget your Minnie ears!

So, to summarize, comfy shoes, cotton, flowy tops, lightweight bottoms and bring your rain coat! As you plan your Walt Disney World trip, I hope you’ll take these tips for what to wear to Disney World to heart. Uncomfortable clothing should be the last thing crashing your Disney party!
