This week is 32 weeks along, only 8 left! (yikes)! According to thebump, baby is anywhere from 2.5 to 3.8 pounds and 15-16 inches long! He will start turning soon and descending downward!
Yesterday I had my monthly appointment and the doctor said I am measuring too small so I have to go in for an ultrasound on Tuesday to check baby’s size and make sure he is growing ok. She said it could just be the way the baby was laying when she measured me that made it look that way but they have to check anyways. So, hopefully all is good and we will find out more info about that on Tuesday! I am hoping they say it’s fine and then I will just get a more up to date ultrasound picture!
Last night we went to breastfeeding class. My husband asked me how many inappropriate comments he was allowed to make before class started and I told him NONE! Then the instructor said “what do you really need to breastfeed???” and smiled around the room waiting for an answer. When no one said anything she said “your breasts, of course!” and I leaned over to Andrew and told him he missed his one chance to yell boobies out in class. hehe The class was good and the instructor was very enthusiastic but also funny so it wasn’t uncomfortable or anything.
I am thankful to be off from work for the summer right now so I can get the house ready and also because I am getting more uncomfortable every day! So, it’s nice to be able to relax and take a load off, even though it can be a little boring! We got all the old, non baby, stuff moved out of the nursery so now it’s time to organize and put everything where I want it! I will show some before and after pictures when it’s all done!
This weekend we have our labor and delivery class at the hospital on Saturday! I am wondering- when do I need to install the car seat by and when should I pack our hospital bags by? I want to be ready on time, but not too early! If you had kids, when did you do those things?
Rach – I will give you the goods on installing the car seat. When I was 35 weeks pregnant with Jeff, I started asking (he'd say nagging) him to install the car seat base. "We don't need it…. He's not due until February. You don't need to pack your hospital bag yet…. He's not due until February." So when our water broke at 4am at 37 weeks, it was a mad dash to pack, throw the car seat base in the car, and drive the icy roads to the hospital. (He installed it in the hospital parking garage.)
Fast forward 2 years almost to the day. At 35 weeks did we have the car seat installed? Nope. What about the hospital bag? Nope. Did we learn our lesson? Nope. At 36 weeks, 2 days when Eva was born we were still throwing crap in the car driving to the hospital (this time with a little more confidence and no ice on the roads).
To answer your question: If you have the room, I'd do it at 35 weeks. Here in VA, if your baby is less than 5 pounds, you have to get a special car seat before they release you. (Most car seats are rated for 5 pounds and up.) I don't know how it works in Philly… If Baby Boy is running a wee bit small, you may want to check with your doctor.
I would have the things ready by about 35 or 36 weeks, just in case you go early 🙂
Your so cute! Sending prayers that everything is fine and that he was just laying odd. I'm sure it is, those Ultrasounds sometimes detect things even when there is nothing to detect 🙂
I am 36 weeks today and I've had my bags packed since 34. I'm not going to install the seat until time to bring baby home. I know my parents will be coming down to visit so I'll just have them bring it with them. I have a two year old with a car seat already so I was just trying to keep the room while we still could 🙂
you're looking great! I'm sure the ultrasound will go great too… we had one for the same reason and it ended up being fine!
I packed my bags around 35 weeks (and unpacked and repacked like four times over the next five weeks) and I think we installed the carseat at 36 weeks (little less than four weeks til my due date) — eeee, getting so close! so excited for you!
