Boozy gummy bears are easy to make and can be made in your favorite flavor!
These gummy bears are a delicious boozy treat and so easy to make! Prep time is about 10 minutes and they can be ready to eat in under three hours. You’ve probably seen vodka soaked gummy bears, which of course are also easy to make. Literally just soaking a bowl of gummy bears with vodka. However, you have to soak them overnight, up to 24 hours, to really get the vodka in there.
Enter, the homemade boozy gummy bear! I came up with this idea when my son and I were making regular gummy bears one day using jello. Since I make jello shots often, I thought why not try it as a gummy?! What’s great about the homemade version is that you can come with so many flavor varieties and really customize it to your favorites!
I used raspberry flavored Jello for these shots and the flavor really pops! You can taste the vodka a little bit, but it’s not an overwhelming flavor. Basically you get the raspberry flavor, with a little bite of vodka at the end.
How to serve boozy gummy bears
I think a great way to serve these would be to add a handful into shot cups so everyone can grab a “shot” worth of gummy bears! This recipe is for about 50 bears so if you make it for a party you’ll need to make several batches. Each bear holds about 3ml in liquid form, so I’d estimate about 10-12 bears equal a one ounce shot.
They are a bit tacky and stick together so keep that in mind when serving them. Keep the gummies in the fridge until ready to serve. They’ll stay good a few days if you cover them, after that they start to shrink down as they dry out.
After making the mixture use a dropper to carefully squirt it into the gummy bear molds. A lot of molds come with eye droppers to use but the ones I have did not. Instead I used a medicine syringe and it worked wonderfully.
These little guys pack a punch so beware! They are purely alcohol, no other liquid goes into making these. But they are so sweet it would be easy to eat a whole bunch without realizing it! Be sure to clearly keep them separate from other candy so your kids aren’t tempted.

Cheers!
Well, that could be an interesting party favor… haha
Be careful cooking these! I got drunk inhaling the fumes. This could be dangerous making many batches or inhaling for to long. It can cause alcohol poisoning and throwing up would not save you 😵
I’ve never heard of this, interesting. I’ve made these a lot and that’s never happened to me! Don’t stick your head right over the boiling pot I guess?!
If I were to use a 6 oz box of Jell-o, would I double the Vodka? I am making several large batches and bought the bigger boxes of Jell-o. Also, I am assuming, I would use 2 pkgs of the Knox unflavored Gelatin?
Yes for the 6oz box I would double everything.
HI, I keep trying to make these and my bears won’t come out of my mold in one piece. What am I doing wrong?
Hey Suzi- two things I can think of. Are you using too much liquid? The more liquid you use the softer they’ll be. And are you letting them set long enough before trying to remove them? If they’re too soft they won’t come out of the molds properly.
Hi Suzi- the only thing I can think of is maybe you’re using slightly too much liquid? That or not letting them set long enough before trying to remove them. Did you add a packet of Knox in with the jello powder?
These Boozy Gummy Bears look amazing and delicious! I will definitely try this out asap!
CAN I DOUBLE THE VODKA WITHOUT IT AFFFECTING THE CONSISTENCY?
No, it would be too thin and set more like jello than a gummy bear. You would have to double everything in the recipe if you wanted more.
How long can these last?
I’ve kept them about a week, covered or in a sealed container, in the fridge. After that they start to dry out and shrivel.
Hiya, I really want to make these but live in the UK and they don’t sell Knox Gelatin here. So I’m thinking to use any ordinary gelatin from our shops but how much do I need to use? How much in grams would you suggest? 🙂 thank you
There’s 7 grams in a package of Knox.
It sounds interesting
