Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with some creepy fun Zombie Cocktail Jello Shots? Inspired by the classic Zombie cocktail—a fruity, rum-based drink that’s notorious for its potent mix of alcohols—these vibrant, flavorful treats are perfect for Halloween parties.

The zombie cocktail, originally created in the 1930’s by Donn Beach has an iconic mix of flavors. Fruit juices are used to cover the strong taste of various rums and passion fruit juice gives an extra sweetness. These shots are inspired by the cocktail, but using a pina colada shot as the base to give it a “zombie brain” vibe for Halloween.

For the presentation I added an extra element by using the pipettes. They are filled with passion fruit liquor to give that extra fruity flavor. The color also adds a spooky detail to the zombie brains!

Another important aspect for the Zombie cocktail is the serving glass. The original drink was served in a zombie skull glass, so I found these skull shot glasses to match that! I got mine at party city, but I found similar ones here on amazon! (affiliate link)
How to make Zombie Cocktail Jello Shots
- For the alcohol: This shot uses a mixture of rums to mimic the original drink. I used a mixture of light and dark rum. You could also add a spiced rum into the mix, if you like the flavor! The pipettes are 4ml pipettes filled with passion fruit liquor. I got them on amazon (affiliate link) or you can pick them up at your local craft store.
- For the shot base: I used gel-shotz pina colada mix for this shot. I like the pineapple-coconut flavor with the rum. You can also use pineapple jello as your base! A great way to add in the other juice flavors would be to add a little lemon or lime juice to your boiling water, but this isn’t strictly necessary.
