These peppermint jello shots are a cute and festive way to bring the fun to your holidays party this year! These creamy, minty treats are the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing, making them a hit at any winter celebration.

I love all things peppermint so I just had to try my hand at a peppermint jello shot! These shots use a white hot chocolate base, and the combination of chocolate and mint is delicious. I made my shots with two layers, but you could go for more layers if you wanted to give it a candy cane look. In reality, these aren’t just a peppermint shot they are a peppermint white hot chocolate shot!

How to make Peppermint Jello Shots
For the alcohol: I used peppermint vodka for both layers. If you want to lighten up on the peppermint flavor you could use vanilla vodka for one of your layers instead. I used Smirnoff Peppermint Twist, but Pinnacle and Veil also both make a peppermint vodka.
For the shot base: To make this shot you will first need to make white chocolate hot chocolate. This is easily found at the grocery store, Target etc. I use Swiss Miss brand. Each layer of hot chocolate is combined with knox gelatin to make the shot. Be sure to let your gelatin bloom over the cold water before heating it up.
For the layers: Be sure to give the first layer time to fully set before adding the second layer, otherwise they will melt together or even fully combine. If you decide to make more than two layers you will need to follow this step each time, but the smaller the layer, the shorter the setting time will be!
Topping: Top with whipped cream and crunched up candy canes or peppermints. You can actually buy crushed peppermint in the holiday baking section at the grocery store, craft store or Target. Or grab a couple of candy canes and do it yourself!

Repeat steps 1-5 above, except add a few drops of red food coloring during step 4.
After the second layer is set, top with whipped cream and crushed peppermints. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Be sure to let the first layer fully set before adding the second layer!
Add toppings right before serving so the whipped cream doesn't fall and get all watery.
You can make these ahead of time and store them, covered with their lids, in the fridge for a few days. Just wait to add the whipped cream!
