Remember this summer when the water hazard cocktail was going viral on TikTok? Say hello to the Water Hazard Gelatin shot, a fun, jiggly spin on the popular golf themed drink! These shots are perfect for your next party, golf themed outing or just a weekend hangout.

What is a Water Hazard Cocktail?
The water hazard cocktail became popular online in the summer of 2025 when “cart girls” went viral on TikTok for sharing their easy to make recipes served on the golf course. The drink is a a mix of vodka, blue Gatorade, lemonade and a splash of sprite. The bright blue color is a nod to the blue water of the hazard on a golf course. The flavor profile is tropical and refreshing.

Tips for serving Water Hazard Shots:
Keep them chilled until itโs go-time and serve them on a tray of crushed ice to make that ocean-blue color pop. I used a green felt on my serving tray to make the background look like the grass of a golf course. Fair warning: they go down easy, so pace yourself before you end up really living up to the โwater hazardโ name. Water hazard gelatin shots are strong!

How to make Water Hazard Gelatin Shots
For the alcohol: This shot uses vodka. Regular, plain vodka is the typical choice for this cocktail. If you want a little more flavor you could try it with a whipped cream vodka or a citrus flavored vodka.
For the base: The main base for this is blue Gatorade. Some say you should only use glacier blue Gatorade, but I think other varieties of blue would be fine as well. I would recommend using regular Gatorade and not the Gatorade zero/low sugar because it definitely doe not taste as good without the sugar. You will also use a little lemonade and Sprite with the Gatorade.
Add in the gelatin: I use one packet of knox gelatin for these shots. Remember to let your gelatin bloom before heating and mixing. Allowing the gelatin to bloom is an important step, otherwise the gelatin will clump and your shots won’t set as well. Simply sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the cold liquid so it can absorb and plump up.
Do we add a garnish? As we’re imitating the golf course cocktail with this shot you don’t need to add any garnish! It you wanted, you could add whipped cream for some extra sweetness. I’ve seen recipes online with lemon slice for garnish, but it’s not really necessary with the shot.
