Last Sunday we decided to go do a little bit of exploring and hiking around a waterfall in the Weisstannental area! This hike came recommended by the blog Moms:Tots:Zurich, which is an excellent resource for hiking spots all around Switzerland and especially geared towards families living in Zurich!
We followed the driving directions that Tanya gave on her blog and found the spot! Thankfully we had her directions, otherwise we would have turned around at several spots before then! We parked right near the waterfall and Andrew and Rocky went up to check it out. I will be honest, it wasn’t quite as majestic as I was expecting, but the scenery was nice and it was great to just be out exploring!
The trail up to the falls was a little too steep for Carter, so we drove over to the other trail head and had our picnic at the fire pit first. It seems there are a lot of public fire pit areas in Switzerland, even in the parks in the city there are fire pit and grilling areas! Next time we’ll bring matches in case we want to set up a little fire.
Mountain explorers!
Always pleasant to see a “do not pick up the bombs” sign on your hiking trail!
This was a short little walk before we switched spots to eat lunch. He did not want to walk up this hill whatsoever but kept coming closer to try to get me to pick him up!
Starting to get the hang of it! Just don’t look at the photos from the other view point, then you’d see how close we still were to where we parked!
Just a little viewpoint of the road. This is a two way road with blind mountain curves. Some spots had safety rails, but for the most part there were none! Along the way there were little pull offs so you could let someone by if you needed to.
Traffic jam in the Alps! The farmer was moving his cows down the road and waved us to “come on.” Then, this truck came up the other way and would not move for anything. So, I had to back up down the road to where it got wider so he could get by! Or, he could have waited 30 seconds for the cows to pass him and then pulled into that pull off area to the left of his car in this photo, but thats just my opinion! Anyway, it’s a moo point now.
Just a cute village and nice views along the way!
We pulled over by these cows to ride out the tantrum a little bit. They didn’t seem to mind the toddler screams at least! Despite this, we had a nice day of exploring and it was great to get outside and bring our dog along so he could have some “nature time,” too!
