These Cucumber Watermelon jello shots are made with the same flavors are the Cucumber Watermelon slush drink from Epcot’s Flower & Garden festival!
Welcome back to my Jello Shots Around the World series! This series showcases different shots inspired by the drinks found at Epcot’s World Showcase. I am challenging my self to make a jello shot for each country in the showcase.
These shots might not be perfect replicas of the drinks I chose, but they are all inspired by drinks from Epcot. I try to stick to the original flavors and spirit of the drinks as much as possible! First, we started in Mexico with Fiesta Margarita shots, then we went to Norway and had some Arendelle Lemonade Shots. Last time we went to China for some Kung Fu Punch shots. Now it’s time to move on to the next country in the World Showcase!
Shots Around the World: Cucumber Watermelon Slush Jello Shots
Next in the World Showcase is the America pavilion! This one was a little hard to come up with because the cocktail type of drinks from this pavilion tend to be whiskey based. While popular with some, whiskey is not even close to being my favorite liquor, so I knew I needed to figure out something else. During the Flower & Garden festival one of the popular drinks is the Cucumber Watermelon Slush from the Florida booth. I’ve been wanting to try a shot with gin, so I figure this would be perfect! It’s not exactly from the America pavilion, but close enough!
For these shots I used watermelon flavored gelatin. You can get Jell-O brand, or, it is also sold in Jolly Rancher brand! I used real cucumber to give the cucumber flavor in the water and gin as the liquor for this shot. I think watermelon and gin compliment each other very well. You can use basic gin for this, no need to spend a ton on a fancier brand of gin since the watermelon flavor is the most prevalent!
How to make Cucumber Watermelon Slushy Jello Shots
If you want to make cucumber "cups" as shown in the picture: cut a cucumber in half. Use a small spoon or tomato corer to core the cucumber and remove all the seeds. Do not go all the way through the bottom! I stood the cored cucumbers upright in cups before I filled them. Transfer to fridge to set. Note that the cucumber will become soft pretty quickly so only use this method if you plan to serve them to same day! When you're ready to serve, cut the cucumbers as desired. I cut straight across the bottom so they would stand up straight on the plate.
