Last week we hit the road for Myrtle Beach, SC! We decided to divide the driving up a little bit instead of doing it all in one day, so we left on Friday night, drove awhile and stayed in a hotel for the night just over the North Carolina border. Carter loved playing with all the items in his road trip bag, but we weren’t expecting him to get carsick! Thankfully we had a roll of paper towels in the car for clean up, but for future road trips we will have to find another solution!
Hit the road!
Carter loved staying in the hotel but was even more excited about pulling his suitcase when we left in the morning! I don’t know what it is but he seriously loves pulling suitcases around! We offered to help him but he is super independent and determined and only wanted to do it himself.
Saturday we decided to take it slow, since we couldn’t check into the condo until 3:00. We took a pit stop in Rocky Mount, NC, and walked around a park, hit up the playground and grabbed some breakfast.
For our last stop we took a small detour and went to South of the Border in South Carolina! It was a few exits past where we should have gotten off 95, but we have always wanted to check it out! If you haven’t been, it’s basically a huge rest stop complex off of I-95. It’s pretty old and you can tell, everything was very dated. The reviews all warned against eating there so we stopped at Zaxby’s ahead of time!
Carter enjoyed seeing all the statues and running around. There is also a playground, many shops and a small amusement area. Carter was too short to go on any of the rides, though.
Carter saw other people taking pictures in front of this cactus so he ran over and stood right in front of it so he could have his picture taken also! We saw a big storm rolling in so we decided it was about time to go and headed off for our last hour or so of driving.
We made it right on time, unpacked and ran down to the beach! Carter really loved the beach, ocean and pool so much!
